      BallinBoxerBallinBoxerIl y a 2 mois
    • Social justice doesn't mean speaking about everything that is a problem. People speak about the issues and problems that affect them, their communities, and things that are important to them.

  • Kareem should be the one be idolizing and celebrating by the young especially the african american kids. He deserves his statue as a basketball player and he deserves another as a human being.

  • Maybe I'm a little slow but can someone point out a racial law or policy that exists in institutions in America. One I can look up. For example is there a restaurant or business that has an explicit law that says we must treat blacks poorly or is a city that says we must punish blacks more harshly for similar crimes. From my understanding there is explicitly policies such as quotas, affirmative action and Rooney Rule (in football) to give blacks some advantage. As a matter of fact the mayor of Oakland will give money to only poor black citizens. So there are institutional laws to help blacks, I just don't see any institutional laws explicitly designed to hurt black.s

    • @Common Sense yup in 2015 tons of unarmed whites were killed by cops but no media coverage. Derek chauvin had beef with George Floyd. I think he murdered george Floyd. It is opinion that if Floyd was a calm white man none of this happens. Heck if Floyd had been anything but a maniac high on drugs and breaking the law none of this mess happens

      Roland TranRoland TranIl y a 2 mois
    • @Roland Tran it's not about having a racist institutional law or policy. It's about people and companies participating in racist abd discriminatory actions and practices. For example although redlining was banned a long time ago it still happens in different forms. The same areas that redlined still are plagued with predatory practices and discriminatory requirements to receive funding or resources. You can GOOGLE specific examples and lawsuits about current issues and examples of redlining. As for affirmative actions that applies to everyone in a sense. If a non black person applied for admissions into Morehouse Medical school affirmative action could be used to get them in. One big area where I see racism and discrimination is in human resources. I have worked in human resources for 15+ years for several fortune 500 companies and their hiring practices are very much discrimination and many have paid out millions from lawsuits filed. You post a job ad that has specific requirements to be eligible for the job. You pick your final candidates and the schedule interviews with all them. They are look great on paper. You do the interviews over the phone and they still look great. You schedule face to face interviews and this is when the problem starts. The best candidate for this senior engineering job is a black woman but you decline to choose her because she is woman and is black. These applicants were ranked by department managers on a scale 1 to 10 based on their interview and resume. The black woman got a 9 and she was ranked the highest which meant she should have been offered the position but she wasn't. The white man who scored a 7 got the position although he wasn the highest ranking. The hiring manager disregarded the ranking decision and made their own decision but follow the ranking decision when the highest ranking in a white person. Happens all the time. Think about this: the entire judicial system relies on the Constitution. The Constitution was written in 1787 and became effective in 1789. What was the only group that had rights during this time? White men. This same framework from the Constitution is used today-the Supreme COURT IS TASKED WITH INTERPRETING what the founders meant when they created it in 1787 and made it effective in 1789 when only 1 group of people had rights.

Love you Mello and congratulations but widen your scope or you are just another millionaire who sips wine.

  • Carmelo Anthony without a doubt is Truly deserving. As a start there was a time, not so long ago, Carmelo Anthony unfortunately wasn't playing in the NBA anymore, for various reasons, victimized incriminated, blackballed, and every word that anyone chooses, to replace simply Unfairness. There's a part of Carmelo Anthony's life while playing in the NBA, is truly an Example & Confirmation that, "GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS". During a time when it seemed as if a "Dark Cloud" was hanging over Carmelo's head, also I'm quite sure during that time Carmelo Anthony went through a period where he began to, even more began to do some serious soul searching, where he didn't want to imagine not playing again, no longer playing the game that he truly loved, Carmelo Anthony, never stop believing in God and himself, before you knew it, doors opened ( opportunity), and here we are, Carmelo Anthony came back with a humble of vengeance and proved many doubters that he could still produce where he was still in office of threat, thus changing his whole perspective, mindset and he made changes ( adjustments) within himself humbly. It could be said,"The Me Nobody Truly Knows"🤔🙏👍, Carmelo Anthony looks beyond NBA Basketball, where he's using it as a platform being supportive outside the game, within and outside of the Country, to me is Also deserving 👍. "CONGRATULATIONS" "SHOUT OUT TO YOU KAREEM", and Thank You for being part of an Historic Life full of Unforgettable, Exciting moments while playing in the NBA, as one of the most dominating players that have been, DESERVINGLY being "TRULY HALL OF FAMER"👍

    • This very award is why he is the GOAT and the " go along get along media" hates Kareem Abdul Jabber. This hatred and Blackballing goes back to his stance with Muhammad Ali , when the entire country turned on him. Only a few "REAL BROTHERS" stood with Ali and Kareem was just a youngster when he put his neck on the line for his friend Ali. The Sports Media has Blackballed him ever since he stood up. America doesn't like STAND UP MEN ( especially BLACK MEN). " Cap" has paid the price for righteousness, that is why we love him beyond the game of basketball. GOAT and it ain't even close! Semper Fi

    • @Centered I agree. I think most people do that for the most part. Most of the crazy stuff that happens in the world is because macro things + environment + brain chemistry ( which we still don't know a lot about ) in terms of predicting those with violent or psychopathic behavior. And it's not a race or class thing. Literally we have psychopaths at every tier of society who cause a lot of problems....sadly they exist for a reason as do the non violent types who exist in vastly more numbers. The mystery of why we're here and placed in these circumstances is a question that nobody can truly here we are.

      J SJ SIl y a 2 mois
    • @J S agreed. The media is trying to divide, but we can stand together for equality. We all deserve the same opportunities but that doesn’t mean we should all have the same outcomes. Life is a game and we just play it the best we can.
